Abstract submission deadline: December 17th 2018

Please submit your abstract using the "ABSTRACT SUBMISSION" button below after having carefully read the abstract submission guidelines. Please note: abstracts which do not correspond to the guidelines will be rejected.

Abstracts may be submitted for poster presentation under the following topics:

  • Basic science
  • Clinical science



Abstract submission Guidelines:

Please read the guidelines below carefully before you start with the submission process in order not to risk rejection of your abstract due to formal criteria.

  • Maximum allowed words: 350. No tables or graphs are allowed! Please Use upper an lower cases
  • Maximum number of abstracts per corresponding author: 5 abstracts
  • The abstract body must be structured as follows:


Accepted abstracts will be presented as posters or, if selected for the data-blitz sessions, as short oral presentations (2 slides, 6 minutes; there will be two data-blitz sessions, one for basic science and one for clinical presentations). The conference committee will select the best abstracts for oral presentation. When you submit your abstract you will be asked to indicate whether you would be willing to present the abstract a) as poster only or b) as poster or oral presentation if selected.

Abstract submission account:

To submit your abstract you have to create a submission account.

The system will first ask you to complete the corresponding authors contact details. As soon as all the details have been completed, the “abstract submission” tab will appear and the submission process can be started. Abstracts can then be entered, saved as drafts or be submitted. Once an abstract has been submitted, no further changes or amendments are possible.

For abstract submission, we need to collect the corresponding author's contact details. We guarantee that all the given information will be used for the correspondence regarding the abstract submission only. The data is stored for no other purpose and will not be used in another way.

Please make sure to submit your abstracts including the abstracts saved as drafts by the submission deadline at the latest! 

Submission process:

In the submission process you first have to fill in all the details regarding your abstract such as the title, authors and category, and afterwards you upload the abstract text as a word document.

Step 1 – Abstract title an presentation type: You enter the title of your abstract here, please use upper and lower case, do not put a full stop at the end. Maximum allowed length is 30 words please use upper and lower cases. Please also indicate whether you want to submit your abstract as poster only or poster or oral presentation.
Step 2 – Category: Please choose here whether your abstract fits better to the topic of basic science or clinical science.
Step 3 – Authors and Affiliations: The corresponding author is automatically in the system as the first and presenting author. You may change this information if necessary and then add additional affiliations and co‐authors by clicking on the corresponding buttons.
Step 4 – Abstract Upload: Here you are asked to upload your abstract text as a word file. Please upload the text only, no title, no authors (these are taken from the information entered above, max. allowed file size = 2Mb). Use Word files (doc/docx). Do not use other formats in order to ensure that all data is submitted and transferred correctly. Maximum allowed words: 350. No tables or graphs are allowed!
Step 5 – Review: Please check that all details are correct. Any sections that are still required to be completed for submission are noted in red.
Step 6 – Submit your abstract: This will only be possible if all previous steps have been completed. Please note: Once your abstract has been submitted no more changes are possible since it is directly forwarded to the reviewers.

Notification of authors:

The conference organisers will notify the author with their decision about whether or not the abstract is accepted WITHIN 4 WEEKS of abstract submission, in order to allow the abstract authors to register for the early-bird fee.
A decision about which abstracts are to be included as oral presentations will be made, and authors informed of this decision, by January 31st 2019. The corresponding author will also receive an automated email confirming the abstract submission was successful and the abstract has been forwarded to the reviewers.

During the Colloquium, the organisers will award:
2 Prizes for the best oral presentations at the data-blitz sessions
2 Prizes for the best poster abstracts
