London-Innsbruck Colloquium on Status Epilepticus and Acute Seizures

7-9 April 2019, The Francis Crick Institute, London, UK

Dear Colleagues

It is our greatest pleasure to invite you to the London-Innsbruck Colloquium on Status Epilepticus and Acute Seizures. These meetings have been held every two years since 2007 and the series has become a landmark meeting in the international epilepsy calendar. During this time there have been exciting advances in the field, with better mechanistic understanding and new treatments and clinical strategies, some of which were first discussed at the Colloquia.

The emphasis is on clinical medicine and translational neuroscience. The Colloquium will provide an update for clinicians on  cutting edge clinical practice in relation to the diagnosis and treatment of status epilepticus and acute seizures, and put new developments into clinical context. The faculty includes 45 leading figures in the field of Status Epilepticus and Acute Seizures from 16 countries around the world.

The programme includes:

  • Nobel prize lecture by the Nobel Laureate, Professor James Rothman
  • 10 sessions covering a range of clinical areas with full lectures given by a renowned international faculty from 15 countries
  • 2 ‘Data Blitz’ sessions where new work is presented in quick-fire 6 minute segments
  • 3 Special workshops (on clinical research and orphan conditions, outcomes of status epilepticus, and status epilepticus due to nerve gases and poisons)
  • 2 Satellite sessions
  • 18 CPD credits (Continuous Professional Development)

The venue of the 7th Colloquium is the Francis Crick Institute, (adjacent to St Pancras Station in London). This biomedical discovery institute, devoted to understanding the fundamental biology of disease, is housed in a spectacular new building, opened in 2016, and has superb conference facilities (www.crick.ac.uk). The Colloquium is organised under the patronage of the ILAE British Branch.
A pre-Colloquium teaching course runs in conjunction with the ILAE British Branch at the Institute of Education on April 6th entitled EEG in status epilepticus and on the intensive care unit (for further details see ilaebritish.org.uk/events)

The Colloquium also prides itself on a friendly atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. There is much on offer to enjoy, not least the colloquium dinner scheduled to be held at the Athenaeum Club.
We look forward to seeing and welcoming you to the Colloquium.

With warm regards,

Simon Shorvon, Eugen Trinka and Matthew Walker
(Co-organisers)
